JXII is a multiplayer computer game which needs the players to go online in order to play, and it is about an adventure story in ancient China which many parties with unique skills were made and scattered around the whole country, including Wutang, Shaioling, Ermei, and so forth. Since this game was released officially in Cambodia, many users have started pouring in to register an account so that they can become members and get their accesses to the game. Seeing this as a big fish, many entertainment stores and Internet Cafés have this game input so as to attract customers, especially boys, who come to their places every day to progress each of their characters in this fantasy world.

As far as I’m concerned, in the environment of Khmer boys, I always hear them talking and boasting about this JXII game, as if they have nothing else to debate about. What I’m always thinking is how this game can be so captivating that so many youth get addicted to it. What is its secret? As a test, I created myself an account and played the game. Sincerely, I don’t think it’s any better than Warcraft. All it’s about is just a control of one character adventuring the world from one town to another, collect stuffs and fight each other along the way. That is all there is about this game, really! If I were to play this game all day, I would rather spend my time on catching up with my favorite novels or manga. To be honest, I really can’t see why people are willing to waste their money on that, or is it just because I’m not a game addict like those players? Maybe…
