Harry Potter 3: Start the Engine!
Okay, here’s what I think. While looking at the translated books of Harry Potter, I found out that almost every known country has the seven books of the series officially translated. Not only that, even our two adjacent countries, Thailand and Vietnam, also finished translating the series. Looking at the Khmer section of translation, there is only ONE official translated book, and that is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s/Philosopher’s Stone (ហេរី ផោតធ័រ និង សិលាទេព). I’m particularly frustrated by this.
Therefore, I made a decision to get all the remaining six books translated in Khmer, even if they are unofficial, for our readers who can’t read or find it hard to understand English. So far the second book, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (ហេរី ផោតធ័រ និង បន្ទប់សម្ងាត់), is done. Five more to go. Now I’ll start Book 3. Here’s a sample translated text:
This time I’ll be the lone translator, so I guess the work will take quite a long time. However, sooner or later it’ll be done, right?

A Quote from Bolt!
I just got a chance to watch Bolt yesterday, and the movie was good. Compared to people, Bolt resembles a lot to our Khmer citizens who believe they live in a prosperous world where everyone is proud of themselves, maybe too proud. And the fact is, it’s all just a show made up by a group of people seeking to serve their own purposes. Well, enough chit chat. Here’s the quote I want to show you:

The Alchemist
Well, long time not having introduced any novels to my readers. So, let’s give this one a try. I encounter another masterpiece while searching a free-eBook-sharing site titled www.intexblogger.com. And the book title is none other than “The Alchemist”, originally published in Portuguese in 1986. It was translated in English in 1993 (quite a long time, huh?). The author is a Brazilian native named Paulo Coelho, who was born the 24th of August in 1947. It’s in the genres of Quest, Adventure, Drama and Fantasy. Any of them being one of your favorite genres?
The plot talks about a Spanish shepherd named Santiago who had a recurring dream about him finding a treasure at the Pyramids. Was this his destiny? To find the answer, he embarked on a quest no other shepherds had ever imagined of and, along the way, met several people of interesting qualities and all of which can be his teachers, including the King, the merchant, the Englishman, the Alchemist and so on. Will he able to complete his quest of finding his treasure? Is it just a dream? Or is it real? Only one thing is certain, leaving his role as a shepherd and becoming an adventurer, Santiago was going to take his lifestyle to another level beyond his imagination.

I’ve put this book among the list of the best books I’ve ever read. Every page of this novel teaches me a new inspiring life lesson. The only thing I regret is that I haven’t found this book earlier. Fortunately, the book is not of date. I’m looking forward to reading more books of his, but now I’m rather busy, so later!
I don’t know if this book is on sale in Phnom Penh, but I’ve already finished the eBook, so I guess I don’t need to buy the book. If anyone wants to take an adventure with Santiago, click here!
