Ozone Layer is made up from three atoms of oxygen and it is symbolized as O3. Ozone Layer is actually very important for human beings. If there are no ozone layer, then the earth will die and lives will cease to live. Scientifically, Ozone Layer stays in the Meso Atmosphere up about 19 to 48 km from the surface of the earth. It acts as a main protection from the ultraviolet radiation coming from the Sun; it’s just like a shield to protect the earth. If ultraviolet radiation can get through to earth without any reduction from the ozone layer, then lives on earth will meet a certain disaster. For one thing, ultraviolet radiation is not very good. If it gets to our skin, our skin will be vulnerable to skin cancer as well as other untreatable diseases.
However, nowadays the ozone layer is getting skinner and skinner and they will probably vanish in the future if not taken care of. Most people do realize the essence of the ozone layer, but they still continue doing things that could affect badly to them. For instance, air conditioner and refrigerator sends out a polluted chemical substance that goes into the air and then the ozone layer. There, this chemical substance will trigger problems to the protection of ozone layer and much ultraviolet radiation will be able to get through. Just consider what would happen if the ozone layer were destroyed. As far as I’m concerned, these days Africa and some other regions are the most defected part of ozone layer. Also, the ice at both poles is melting down due to much heat which is named Global Warming.
What will happen in the future? Beats me! Anyway, I’m not going to live long enough for that day to come, for it could be millions of years forward. I just want to tell you that we should be more considerate about the ozone layer and treat it as our main problem. Please don’t ignore! Moreover, I’ve recently read from the news that the highest dying rate of people in the world is HEAT rather than any other natural disasters. Be careful, guys!
Interesting Facts: I’ve read a scientific book about people being able to create artificial ozone layer in the future. It seems impossible, but people also thought we couldn’t go to space in the past. Anyway, a proverb again: ‘Nothing’s impossible.’ I hope they can do it in the future…for the sake of humanity.
