Introduce Myself

Hello, everyone. Here’s something if you guys wanna know about me. I don’t want to list out the details because I don’t want to make it look like I’m applying for a job. So, first of all, this guy’s name’s Fidele, Kien Forcefidele. It sounds strange, doesn’t it? However, it has meaningful explanation. I live in Cambodia, a small but world-renowned country for its Angkor Wat temple which locates in Southeast Asia in Indochina, adjacent to Thailand, Vietnam, and Lao. My nationality is Khmer, of course, and I live in Phnom Penh. Also, nowadays, I’m studying at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), informally known as Techno. Having a hell of a time there 😀

I’m the creator of this weblog, all in all, and my major purpose is to unleash all of the writable knowledge within me so that I can share it with all the people worldwide, no matter what nations or religions. Anyone from around the globe or other worlds (if there’s such thing) is welcome to read and distribute your knowledge as well as comments to my articles. I really hope that when you read my blog, you can at least get something useful from it. Oh! I forget to tell you one more thing: THANK YOU very much for spending your precious time in order to read my weblog. Wish you with all luck.

The first idea that brought me to the creation this blog is practicing my English and extending my general aspects’ boundaries. However, after some consideration, I decided that I would like to post some Khmer articles as well in order to spread out the reputation of my national language. From this moment onward you can see some of my posts written in Khmer even though I won’t be writing much.

Not to change the subject, I have some other thing to tell you guys. As said above, my main focus on building up this blog is to share my ideas to as many people as possible around the world. Also, like a proverb that stated, ‘No one is perfect’, my opinions aren’t all correct and acceptable. That’s why I would pretty much thank you if you can, in any way, express what you think about the topics I raise to discuss in order to find out the best opinion or solution for all of us. Anyway, no pressure! I’m kinda open-minded! 😉

  4. Hi Fidele,
Your blog is awesome! You seem to be quite intelligent and well beyond your years. I know Khmer people who have been in the USA for over 10 years and their English isn’t near your writing level. I’m trying to learn Khmer and as an American it seems to be quite difficult since there aren’t too many places that teach the language. I think I’ve hit what we call a “wall” in my learning progress. My problem is forming the correct sentences, I know a lot of vocabulary but as far as putting it all together to form conversation is where I lack the most. Also it’s very easy for me to get lost in listening to Khmer speak on the news because I understand a lot of what they say but my brain doesn’t translate the language fast enough yet. Ideal for me would be to listen to a sentence then pause so I can translate in my brain then start the show again to repeat over and over. Do you think it’s good to slow down the listening to a level where I’m comfortable or do you think I will learn more and better habits by listening at normal (super fast to me) speed? I also have one more question, this is about a word in which I’m not sure about and none of my friends or my fiance (in Phnom Penh) can help me with. I believe the word is pronounced jeung or jung and the only spelling in dictionaries i could find was ចែង, Khmer often say the word at the beginning of sentences i believe after the first person has spoken and I know the word want or ចង់ so it isn’t this word. The word almost sounds like ចឹង when being spoken in conversation, this is a word that is used a lot and I can’t figure it out! Maybe you can help me, lol. If you ever want to chat or talk on Skype to better your English speaking then don’t hesitate to let me know or write me back. Take care for now!

    1. Hi Nate,
Nice to know you. Well, honestly, I agree that Khmer language is hard for foreigners to learn because its grammar and how we use it in real life are almost irrelevant, but sometimes it can also be easy. In my opinion, as long as you can understand it, I don’t the think the speed matters much. For starters, first you need to understand what’s said, so slow speed is necessary. When you get used to it (and I hope you will), then you can listen to it at normal speed. About the word you asked me, I’m convinced that it’s written as ចឹង and Khmer people (including me) often uses it a lot, and its use is very similar to ‘well’ before a sentence. By the way, it’s a spoken form of អ៊‌ីចឹង. Hope this will help. If you have any other questions, I’ll be glad to help.

  7. Fidele,
I read all the comments in here, it seems you are a very popular young man here. I’m sure sooner or later there will be young ladies running after you….. but whatever fun you’ll have please keep up the good work. Seriously you sound like a very smart boy. Please teach other unfortunate kids in Cambodia, you can be a role model for them. Every time I go back to Cambodia I fell a lot of pains to see the suffering of those kids. I do help as much as I can. I hope and will do more.
    Thanks for sharing your ideas

    1. Do I sound like a smart kid? 😕 Believe me, I’m not. But I’m striving to become one. It’s not much fun if you’re already smart, don’t you think? 😀 Just kidding. Yeah, I also hope I can help develop Cambodia as much as I can, but I’m not sure if the country will accept it. Anyway, you won’t know until you try, right? Nice talking to you. 😀

I study English at ELT, to be precise, with a variety of English teachers coming from different countries in the world, including Australia, Africa, USA, etc. I’m on vacation now, so there’s not much to do. However, I need to get myself prepared for the final year at high school. And don’t be ridiculous! I’ve never thought of anyone as too talkative or anything. Actually, I like talkative people, well, if they don’t talk gibberish. Thanks for the visit. 😀

    1. Welcome to my blog, and thank you very much for your praise. To be honest, I’m not that great; I still have a lot of disadvantages needed improving. Believe me, nobody’s great. It’s just that they try harder than us. So, if we try much harder than they do, we’ll become, if not greater, equal to those great people. That’s my advice, and I get most of it from Naruto. 😀 Don’t worry! You can do it, too!

  10. Hello Fidele!

I discovered your blog today and I like what I see. Your English skills are excellent for your age. In a few years time I am sure your English skills will be the same as a barang 🙂

Even now your English is better than some people I know who are a LOT older than you.

I have been to Cambodia before and I love your country & people who I found to be very friendly.

    Keep up the good work!

    Alan (Scotland U.K)

    1. Oh now you’re in grade 11 so next year you’ll have a chance to join an out standing students exam! I think you might pass in the mathematics competition because you’re very good in math!! Hope that you’ll pass! Anyway I’m so proud of you, just a year older than me but your english is very good! do you know french too? Which english school are you studying?

      1. Last line, paragraph 1, the gramatically correct word must be KNOWN and not KNOWNed. However, you should be praised for your time, efforts and oriented mind for improvement … All your Khmer word knowledge should be improved through serious practice of reading, writing and especially keeping contact with those who are scholars on the matters – your Khmer texts are scattered with mispellings, mistakes in orthography and meanings amongst others
